Golden sits at the mouth of Clear Creek Canyon, 12 miles west of downtown Denver, beneath North and South Table Mountains and Lookout Mountain. Its downtown runs along Washington Avenue and Clear Creek, home to the Colorado School of Mines (founded 1874) and the Coors brewery. East of town, Applewood and Applewood West are established neighborhoods of mid-century homes on larger lots at the base of South Table Mountain, with the Applewood Golf Course and quick access to I-70 and Highway 6.
Evergreen, 19 miles west of Denver at 7,220 feet, is a mountain community of forested acreage parcels, log and timber homes and the lake at its center, Evergreen Lake, with its historic Lake House. Bergen Peak, Elk Meadow and Alderfer/Three Sisters open-space parks surround it, and the Evergreen Parkway connects to I-70 in about ten minutes.
The foothills are personal for Shurie: she spends her off-hours in the mountains around Evergreen, represented the buyers of a 44-acre property on Snowshoe Road there, and has listed homes in Golden, including a six-bedroom contemporary on nearly four acres on Pine Ridge Road and a home in Applewood West on West 29th Avenue.
